Norbar Torque Tools Inc.:
New Design in Torque Wrench Evolution
Thursday, March 06, 2008

Norbar Torque Tools, Inc introduces one of the most significant new designs in the company’s sixty-five-plus year history, the new TruTorque. The aim of the design team was to produce the best possible tool using the latest materials and engineering techniques,at a competitive price. Key objectives were to produce a wrench that is durable and will stay in calibration for as long as possible, even when used regularly in demanding environments.
The new wrench uses an improved mechanism to achieve these goals, that retains elements from the original, tried-and-tested design. Adjustment is simplicity itself, with the coarse scale on the handle and a micrometer for fine setting. Whereas some wrench designs demand substantial operator strength to adjust them, the new Norbar Wrench moves with fingertip control over the whole length of the scale. The new, ergonomic grip design is also extremely comfortable, with excellent slip resistance in all conditions.
The five TruTorque models range from 15 - 221 ft.-lbs. (20 - 300 N.m.) torque. All sizes offer bi-directional torque control, essential for left hand threads and for controlling maximum break-away torque. Ratchets are reversible for ease of positioning and have a narrow engagement angle for tight spaces. Accuracy is to +/– 3% of reading, which exceeds all international standards. Each wrench is supplied with a traceable calibration certificate. A lock is incorporated to prevent accidental adjustment of the set torque.
